I have just finished this book and... WOW!!! It was GREAT!!!
Actually, this book's about this guy (Ian) who happens to have a father who has been in a line of generations full of evil Fairchilds. Ian hated himself for this bit of the family blood in him although he was never really evil till the extent of his father. But, that's not all. Ian is a half SELKIE (Definition: A creature or spirit in Scottish and Irish folklore that has the form of a seal but can also assume human form.). So far throughout his life, people shun away from him as long as they know that little secret of his. He lived a drifted life until he came to Fionnaway Manor. He came home. But before he can really claim the manor as his home, he has to deal with the beautiful, mysterious displaced mistress of Fionnaway Manor, lady Alanna.
Enough of the summarising, i can't wait to share the part that really captured my whole attention. It was the part when Ian died. I was so sad, I cried. It was not the dying part that made me cry but the part after that. In the book, Ian said that he could not love because he never experienced love before but Alanna loved him nonetheless. It is said that SELKIES are magical creatures. Ian himself could sense the change in weather and also, he could call on the winds and storms if he so wanted. Ian said before that if there was ever one day he could love, he would make a full moon shine from a new-moon sky. If he loved her, he would make the waves die down on a windy night. If he loved her, he whould make the sea clear as glass. So on the day he died (i am not gonna tell u why he died...), all these things happened. It showed her that he loved her. And i cried because all of the magical happenings assured her of his love only when it was too late. No matter what she did, he just would not wake up. But thankfully, as you all know, novels ALWAYS have a happy ending.
He lived. He lived because their love was so strong. HER love was so strong that it called out to him. Her tears when it touched his cheek, her love when she cired out all made him awaken. *sighs* I was so afraid that he would die and she would be all alone. Thank the author man. LOL. This book is incredible. It took me to an enchanted place where i never dreamed of going. LOVE IT!!!
