Alright. I have decided not to put any photos here. WAHAHA! I know i know... All of you must be thinking, a picture speaks a thousand words but, WHO CARES?!? WAHAHA! I think the only lee-way will be me posting the photos on my yahoo album. If you want, you can always go there to take a look. Link here. Hehe... Okay. I shall begin with my tale at GENTING.
15th Spetember 2006. It was a stormy night. Rain drops the size of your thumb. Okay. Maybe i exaggerate. A little. Myabe a lot. Who started discussing about the rain? Anyway, the important stuff was i arrived EARLY. The earliest actually. Quite an achievement if you ask the girls. Well, what can i say. We planned to meet at 8pm. This was totally Lynn's idea (meeting at 8pm). The rest (Lynn and XY) were late (later than me). After those 2 monsters arrived, we decided to take a walk since the sky was still pouring baboons and chimpanzees. Took a walk inside Whitesands shopping mall but bought nothing significant. Finally, we went to catch a cab. We still got rained upon but that was a small price to pay for a very enjoyable ride. Our taxi driver was SO entertaining. LOL! It all started with a simple small talk on where we were going. We told him we wanted to go to Golden Mile and i guess he sort of figured out we were going to Genting (from the big bags as well as his own experience). After that, he launched off with the topic of his own experiences at Genting. Telling us what was nice and what we would miss (the sight seeing since we were travelling at night). Then as we travelled, we saw a lot of roads being blocked due to the IMF meeting. This is the funny part. He started telling us that if the government wanted none of the terrorists attacks, they should just close down Singapore for the 10 days. Anyone walking on the streets will be shot. Close the airports, the bus terminals, EVERYTHING. Singapore would have a holiday and everyone can eat and sleep and watch tv. Enjoy life! LOL. Well, maybe reading this now ain't that funny but in that cab, we were laughing our heads off. We finally reached Golden Mile at around 8.54pm. We were supposed to meet Lynn's boss (Rudy) at 9.30pm.
The first thing you actually notice is the smell. It's really hard to explain and i can only give you one word. SMELLY! Can you imagine us standing there for more than 30 minutes? I think the smell sort of lingered on us. OMG! lol. I remember the taxi uncle also told us to be really careful with our bags. If we leave them on the floor unguarded, people will carry it off for us and we'll never get them back. So we guarded our bags with our lives i tell you. Then we saw a few *interesting things that happened around us. Of course, we tried to tolerate with the smell. When the smell got stronger, we moved but the smell sort of follwed. HAHA!
Finally, we were introduced to everyone and we boarded the bus. What happened on the coach was a total darkness. They played snakes on the plane for us but since i hated gruesome and disgusting movies, i tried to distract myself with other things like talking to the other 2 monsters. Like i had a choice. HAHAHA!!! I only saw the part where a snake attacked this lady and sort of went into her eye or something. Real DISGUSTING! Anyway, we talked and we slept and by doing so, the time passed SOOO SLOWLY! Haha...
Finally, we reached Genting at around 3.50am? I'm not sure but i think it was around that time. We waited for a while and then we waited for a longer period of time. Finally, we left our bags with the bell counter and went in search of breakfast. AT 4AM!?! Can you believe it? And the thing was, Lynn said she was hungry. HUNGRY! AT 4AM!?! My life's earliest breakfast everyone. *applause* Well, always a first time for everyone. Ate at the big M since all the other shops were closed. I was like telling the girls, "WOW! So early they start work liao ah? Imagine what time they sleep!"
Anyways, after breakfast we walked around the whole First World and took a good look around. Familiarise ourselves? Think so. We walked and we talked. We talked while we walked. At last, we returned to the seats and awaited for our turn to check into the hotel. Our number was 83 and we were waiting with the patience of people who did not really sleep much and ate at such an ungodly time. We waited as the numbers jumped. 20... 25... 38... 43... 56... 69... 72... 80. Then the number stopped jumping. At 80 for goodness sakes. We waited and waited with doe eyes but the number just stopped there. Can you imagine just how frustrated we were? I can't even imagine the person with the number 81. So near yet so far. Lucky for us, Rudy and Irfan sort of fought for our hotel room keys. Finally, we were able to go to our rooms. The minute i stepped into the room and saw the beds, i was real grateful. Put my bags down and plonked into bed.
I put the alarm for 9.15am so that we could get ready for the day. Of course we didn't wake when the alarm rang. The monsters told me, "Who put song as ringtone wan?". Fine. Nothing to say. By the way, my alarm tone was Fergie's London Bridge.
We bathed, we dressed, we yawned and we went out. After that, we walked a bit then we went to buy out tickets for the theme parks. YAY! I have nothing much to say only that we had so much fun. The monsters are somewhat cowardly. Do not be deceived by their appearances. I wanted to take the corkscrew and had to nearly beg on the floor so that Lynn could come up with me. I could not even drag XY up the ride since her legs were already cemented onto the ground when i mentioned the ride. Can you believe it? XY asked us to sit the Ferris Wheel. She said it was nice. I just yawned and said it was really pathetically SLOW! *gosh* The only good thing about that ride was that you could touch the fog in your hands when you were up there. Lucky us! We took pictures. Of course we took pictures. With XY around, how can we not have photos? HAHAHA!!!
We lingered until the rain came down on us. Had to run back and we settled for lunch at Kenny Rogers. The best meal at Genting i guess. Enjoyed everything on my plate. Almost everything. Still think the potatoes were a little bit hard.
After lunch, Lynn went with her colleagues to the Haunted House or whatever they call it. Then, we lost contact. I was under XY's torture. She asked me to go take the CATERPILLAR ride. One word - SLOW!!!! We also queued up for the indoor overhead ride whereby it took us around so that we could see the whole of the building inside. A clear bird's eye view. We actually queued up twice because the first time, i had a stomach ache and we were almost there. LOL! XY was like nagging at me telling me that i had to compensate her with the Caterpillar ride so that's the reason why i had to take that ride. LOL!
Here's the good part. BUMPER CARS! WOO!!! It was pure fun and darn craziness. Too bad Lynn didn't have a chance to experience the sensation. After all the extremely slow rides, the toilet breaks and performances, we went to experience the ultimate indoor BUMPER CARS! A must sit when i go to Genting. I think it's the thrill of being able to bump other people and trying to avoid their bumping that makes it so exciting. XY was asking for more after the first time. HAHAHA!!! We played for 3 rounds? and then we decided to back to the hotel room because Lynn was already inside waiting for us (and her squashed muffin - XY kept plucking small pieces and stuffing them into her mouth). While walking back to the room and into the room, XY kept blaming me for the squashed muffin. But who in the first place was too lazy to hold the muffin? Hmm?
In the room, secrets were shared, experiences were told and finally, we went to take a refreshing bath! Lynn told us that we were going to play UNO at Rudy and Irfan's room.
In the room, i actually felt quite out of place. Slowly, as the game started, we forgot about the cold ond concentrated on winning. LOL! Lynn was the best at UNO and XY was the HEART ATTACK QUEEN! Be careful guys, she's ROUGH! HAHAHAHA... SCARY... Anyway, we had a great time. The room was full of laughter and screams. HAHAHA!!! Had a little story telling time in the room too. Watched some parts of documentaries on the TV and finally, dragged our feet back to our own room. Totally tired. We slept and the next day, we got ready for breakfast and SHOPPING! P.S. XY leaked on the bed. XY had the honours to go to the bathroom first and then it was my turn. I think Lynn was the last one. HAHA! We thought we were late but there were people later than us so we relaxed. HAHA!
Had pizza for breakfast cum lunch. After that, we quickly grabbed whatever we wanted and needed to buy. At 1pm, we went back to our rooms to pack and check out. Waited for everyone at the lobby and finally, we checked out. Put our bags at the bell counter again and took a stroll outside. Took a real good look at the scenery. It was beautiful. The air was great though there were many people smoking. Took pictures and we saw monkeys! HAHAHA! I mean real monkeys. Not XY or Lynn though they seem to act like them one way or another. *thinks* HAHAHA!!!
We collected our bags and we were late. I don't know who this guy is but he was talking in a loud voice. Told us we should not be late again next time. Caused the whole bus to wait for us. We apologised to the man and quickly followed the driver back to the bus. Got seated and we moved off. In the bus, the woman seated beside me took out her camera and started taking pictures again. LOL.
We stopped at this place where the locals sold their local tidbits. XY wanted to go to the toilet and wanted someone to accompany her so i took up the task and went off with her. I nearly lost her at the entrance. Funny how you can get lost just by turning your head away. I was quite scared for her actually. She's a little blind when it comes to directions. We finally went to the toilet which was really smelly. When we came out, we sort of were tempted so we picked out a few items and queued up to pay for them. Unfortunately, the queue was SOOO long. We waited and waited. There was 1 woman who really made a lot of fuss. Terrible. Finally, it was our turn and we quickly paid and took our change.
We wanted to return to our bus but we did not remember the bus number. We went around and around trying to find the right bus but we just couldn't find it. Until i caught my eye on the bus driver. I remembered his face so i asked him, "Uncle, you which bus?" LOL. He then told us our bus number and asked another driver to bring us back to the bus. It was darn embarrassing yet extremely funny. I think the drivers remembered us because of that incident. HAHA! Think they'll be telling their family about these two girls who got lost and couldn't remember their bus number. HAHA!
We travelled and travelled until we stopped. This time for dinner at some place where they sold ridiculously expensive food to tourists. Lucky for us, we did not get anything from them. Survived on the titbits we bought earlier. Lynn went down to relieve herself and XY followed. Think it was very smelly. HAHA! Lucky i didn't go down. It was crowded because most of the buses stopped there for dinner. After everyone came back up the bus, we continued to travel. At about 8.45pm, we reached the Malaysian Customs. At around 9pm, we reached Singapore customs but because of the long queue of buses, we had to wait for quite some time. Finally, we came down and checked our passports as well as our bags. Got up the bus again and headed for the Golden Mile. Again. Think we sort of reached the place at 10.45pm. Somewhere around there i guess. We queued up for a taxi and when we got one, we were so happy! LOL. The uncle was nice also. Played music from station 91.3FM [i think...] (he told me this himself). HAHAHA. When i reached home, i was like WOAH!!! Home Sweet Home! I just so missed my bolster. LOL!
And the new air-conditioner was so FREAKING cold. I thought i was still at Genting. HAHA! at 27 degrees. Can you believe it? My old air-conditioner, at 16 degrees you still couldn't beat the fan. LOL!
I think that's about all for the GENTING entry. HOHO!
